Step one: After pollen has landed on the stigma, it grows a pollen tube down through the style to the ovary. Step two: The nucleus of the pollen grain travels down the pollen tube and fertilises the nucleus in the ovule. Step three: The fertilised ovule develops into a seed.

Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of the same or different flower. The two types of pollination are :- Self pollination and cross pollination. Self pollination: in this type of pollination the pollen grains are transferred from the anther to the stigma of the same flower. Cross pollination: In this type of pollination the pollen grains are transferred from anther to stigma to the different flower. The two agents responsible for pollination are insect and wind.
