Let the required number be x. According to the question, ⇒ 12 7 +x= 15 −4 ⇒ x= 15 −4 − 12 7 L.C.M of 15 and 12 is 60 ⇒ x= 15×4 −4×4 − 12×5 7×5 ⇒ x= 60 −16 − 60 35 ⇒ x= 60 −16−35 ⇒ x= 60 −51 ∴ x= 20 −17 ∴ 20 −17 should be added to 12 7 to get 15 −4 .
