Bastille:- The Bastille was a fortress-prison in France. It was hated by all the people because it symbolized the despotic powers of the French King. People who had political disagreements with the King was imprisoned in Bastille. It showed the oppressive nature of the French King. Storming of the Bastille: It was an iconic conflict of the French newly constituted National Assembly led a crowd of Parisians to successfully besiege the Bastille, an old fortress that had been used since 1659 as a state prison.
