The structure of chloroplast is as follows:- ~It is double membranous ~It consists of various coin like structures : A single one is called thylakoid ,these thylakoids make a pillar like structure by getting arranged one above the other and form a granum ( plural grana) ~ these grana are attached to one another by a structure which is called stromal lamelle or frets ~ The Matrix inside the chloroplast is called stroma ~ Chloroplasts are of two types : chromoplast( coloured ones this colour is due to different pigments such as chlorophyll (green) xanthophyll ( orange) ) and leucolplast ( colourless)

1) chloroplast are flat shaped 2) they have to membrane namely outer and inner membrane 3) the outer membrane permits the movement of ions and metabolites 4) the inner membrane is highly specialised with transport protein.
