lectric Potential Vs Potential Difference Is Electric Potential and Potential difference is the same thing? Electric potential and potential difference are related concepts, but they are not the same thing. Electric potential (also known as voltage) is a scalar quantity that measures the electric potential energy per unit charge at a point in space. It is measured in volts (V) and is denoted by the symbol V. Potential difference (also known as voltage difference or voltage drop) is a measure of the difference in electric potential between two points in an electric circuit. It is the work done per unit charge in moving a charge from one point to another and is measured in volts (V). It is denoted by the symbol ΔV. In other words, potential difference is the difference in electric potential between two points, while electric potential is the electric potential energy per unit charge at a single point.
