Majoritarianism is a belief that the majority community should be able to rule in the country which ever they they like disregarding the needs and wishes of minorities. In 1956 law was passed that 1. The official language of srilanka was sinhala. 2. The govt. followed preferential policies that sihalas applicants for university positions and government jobs. 3. The state shell protected and Foster Buddhism. All these government measures coming one after the on other gradually increase the feeling of alienation among the srilankan tamils.

Srilanka is a country in which majoritarianism is practiced. Due to this reason, their are many political alienation that are increasing rapidly and resulting in political instability.
