Why is the variation beneficial to the species but not necessarily for the individual?

Because different species have different variations. They can not survive in high temperature but their individual can survive due to variations. E.g. Bacteria,their species survive in high tempt.but their parents can't survive . Because parents have not variations as their species.

Because variations is different in different species. They cannot survive in high temperature bit their species does bcoz of variations. Ex: Bacteria, their species can survive in high temperature bcoz they have variations but their parent doesn't hace variations so the may die.
