Another possible explanation is that solubility of any substance in water is greatly affected by the presence of hydrogen bonds between the substance and water molecules (if any), provided the hydrogen bonds require an electronegative atom with AVAILABLE lone electron pairs. In aniline, -R effect of phenyl ring removes electron pair on nitrogen atom (so, LESS chance for hydrogen bonding). But, methyl amine has methyl group with +R effect which actually helps the methyl group to donate electron pairs to nitrogen, thereby increasing the electron density on nitrogen atom.

Due to resonance, aniline gets stabalise and it becomes difficult to remove electrons from it . Hence it is not soluble in water
