Let the required point on the x-axis be P(x, 0). Then,
PA = 5 $\Rightarrow$ PA² =25
$\Rightarrow$ (x - 5)² + (0 + 3)² = 25
$\Rightarrow$ x²-10x + 25 + 9 =25 $\Rightarrow$ x² - 10x + 9 =0
$\Rightarrow$ x²- x - 9x + 9 = 0 $\Rightarrow$ x(x -1) -9(x - 1)=0
$\Rightarrow$ (x - 1) (x -9) =0 $\Rightarrow$ x - 1 =0 or x - 9 =0
$\Rightarrow$ x = 1 or x = 9.
