The textile industry is the only industry in the country which is self-reliant and complete in value chain. This means that it is complete from raw materials to the highest value-added products, e.g. garments.

  1. Textile industry contributes almost 14 percent to industrial production.
  2. It generates employment for almost 35 million people directly.
  3. It also contributes 24.6 percent of the foreign exchange earnings.
  4. Its contribution toward GDP is 4 percent.
