1)Romantic artists were against the glorification of reasoning and science, and focused on emotions, institutions and mystical language. 2)They wanted to share a collective heritage, a common cultural past as the basis of a nation. 3) Romantic philosophers wanted to create a true spirit of nationalism through folk songs, folk poetry and folk dances.So according to them, collecting and recording these forms of folk culture was essential to the project of nation-building.
