Indicators : Indicators are the substances which indicates the acidic or basic nature of the solution by the colour. Types of indicators: (¡) Natural indicators: These are obtained from natural sources are called natural indicators. Litmus , turmeric , red cabbage ,China rose etc. common examples of the natural indicators. (¡¡) Olfactory indicators: s Substances which change their smell when mixed with acids or base are known as olfactory indicators. Example; onion , Vanilla etc. (¡¡¡) Synthetic Indicators: Indicators that are prepared in labs and are known as synthetic indicators. Example: (a) phenolphthalein (b) methyl orange.
