    Windward side
    1. Receives the winds
    2. Receives precipitation
    3. Has more vegetation
    4. Does not offer much protection to vessels from winds

    Leeward side
    1. Mountains block the winds from blowing to this side
    2. Are dry and receive very less precipitation
    3. Has lesser vegetation as compared to the windward side
    4. Offers better anchorage to vessels
