The feeling of alienation increased among the tamil speakers because as the sinhala leaders had a dominance over the government and they passed an act called majoritarian act in 1956 which included the following- Sinhala has the official language Government preferencial policies for sinhala applicants in government jobs and leaders will protect and foster budhism So ,this act had lead the feeling that tamils are discriminated and they demanded for equal rights and opportunity
