Comparing the states only on the basis of per capita income that is on money criteria is not useful because the well being and lifestyle of the people living over there should be observed and examined carefully. Kerala having low per capita income than Maharashtra still has as a better Human Development ranking because it has adequate provision of Healthcare and educational facilities. By comparing per capita income we come to know that Maharashtra is more developed but by comparing other such factors of economic development and lifestyle of people we conclude that Kerala is more better than Maharashtra in overall terms and hence we should not be using per capita income individually for comparing States.
