Let the distance on angle of depression 45° be x And from 60° be y Then the distance travelled by the ship during the time of observations would be x-y Now, cot45°=x/150 1=x/150 x=150m And cot60°=y/150 1/√3=y/150 150/√3=y 50√3=y. {by rationalisation} So, x-y=150-50√3 =50(3-√3) m
