The actual reasons behind this concept is of steric hinderance and +ve Inductive effect. These both factors are responsible for the more reactivity of aldehydes towards nucleophilic reaction than Ketones.

This is due to two reasons 1. Steric reason(presence of bulkier groups on either side of ketones) . 2. Electronic reason(+I effect of alkyl group)
