(1) The movement started with middle class participation in the cities. (2) thousands of students left government controlled school and college. (3) many teachers resigned. (4) lawyers gave up their legal parties. (5) the council elections were boycotted in most province except Madras. (6) foregin goods wher boycotted, liqueur, shops, picketed and foregin cloth burnt in hug bonfires.
