Roadways are better than railways because of the following reasons:- 1. The cost of construction of road is relatively cheap competitively to railways. 2. Roads can be constructed on uneven surfaces and slopes of Himalayas. 3. Roads also link other transportation ways like waterways and airways- airport. 4. Two passengers and light weight things can be carried short distance through roads. 5. Roads provide door-to-door service.

Construction cost of roads is much lower than railway lines. Roads can be constructed easily in hilly terrains and undulating topography. Roadways act as a feeder to other modes of transport, as they provide a link between railway stations, air and sea ports.
