The shadow of a tower standing on a level plane is found to be 50 m longer when Sun’s elevation is 30° than when it is 60°. Find the height of the tower.

tan 60 = h/BC
BC = h/{tex}\sqrt3{/tex} ....(1)
tan 30= h/ BC+50​
⇒ BC + 50 = {tex}\sqrt3{/tex}h
BC = {tex}\sqrt3{/tex}​h − 50 ....(2)
From (1) & (2)
h{tex}\sqrt3{/tex} = {tex}\sqrt3{/tex}h − 50
⇒ h = 3h − 50{tex}\sqrt3{/tex}
⇒ 2h = 50{tex}\sqrt3{/tex}
⇒ h = 25{tex}\sqrt3{/tex}.
