The arrangement of more than one flower along a common floral axis called PEDUNCLE is termed as INFLORESCENCE. It may be CYMOSE (flowers in ACROPETAL ORDER, older flowers towards base of the axis and younger flowers towards the top as in MUSTARD) or RACEMOSE (flowers in BASIPETAL ORDER, oldest flower at the apex limiting growth of axis and all young flowers towards the base as in GULMOHAR)
