Xylem is the complex tissue of plants, responsible for transporting water and other nutrients to the plants. Phloem is living tissue, responsible for transporting food and other organic materials. ... Plants have tissues to transport water, nutrients and minerals. Xylem transports water and mineral salts from the roots up to other parts of the plant, while phloem transports sucrose and amino acids between the leaves and other parts of the plant.

Xylem and phloem both are present in plant cells . They are also called conducting tubes . Xylems work is to transport water and minerals to the leaves . Phloems work is to transport food to the remaining part of the plant
