The substance which contains H+ hydronium ion is known as acid and which are sour in taste . The substance which contains OH- hydroxide ions in aqueous solution and bitter in taste is known as bases . The substance which contains both acid and base and formed neutral substance is known as salts.

Acids: Substances which gives h+ ion for h3o+ ion in a aqueous solution. Bases: Substances which gives oh- ion in aqueous solution. Salts: Salt is an ionic compound that contains a cation and an anion.
