The compound P which is lead nitrate on heating decomposes into lead monoxide,nitrogen gas which gives out brown fumes and hydrogen gas is liberated. The brown colour gas is nitrogen fumes. When the aqueous solution of lead nitrate reacts with potassium iodide then the yellow precipitate lead iodide is formed along with the formation of potassium nitrate.
