It aims to enhance livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
(1) The MGNREGA is a employment generation scheme of the government of India for rural areas.
(2) This Act was passed in September 2005.
(3) The Central Government will establish funds for this scheme.
(4) State Governments will also establish state level funds for implementation of the scheme.
(5) It provides 100 days of wage employment every year to every rural household.
(6) One - third of the proposed jobs have been reserved for women.
(7) If an applicant is not provided employment within fifteen days, he or she will be entitled to unemployment allowance.
