We know that √2 and -√2 are the zeroes of p(x) Therefore ...... (x - √2) and (x + √2) are the factors of p(x) It means product of factor also a factor = X² - 2 = g(x) Devide p(x) by g(x) We Get - q(x) = 2x² - 3x +1 By using slitting the middle term method ------ q(x) = 2x² - 3x + 1 = 0 = 2x² - 2x -x + 1 = 0 = 2x( x -1) -1 (x-1) = 0 = (2x-1) (x-1) = 0 Other two zeroes are ----- i) (2x-1) =0 = x = ½ ii) (x-1) = 0 x = 1 Hope its help you .........
