METALS = are electropositive in nature. Oxides are either basic or amphoteric in nature. Oxides are good reducing agents. Reactive ones can replace H2 in acids. NON METALS = are electronegative in nature. Oxides are either acidic or neutral in nature. Oxides are good oxidising agents. Cannot react with acids.
