During sunrise, the light rays coming from the Sun have to travel a greater distance in the earth’s atmosphere before reaching our eyes. In this journey, the shorter wavelengths of lights are scattered out and only longer wavelengths are able to reach our eyes.

When Sun is at the horizon (morning), the light rays have to travel relatively longer distances to reach the observer's eye. According to Rayleigh's Law of Scattering (amount of scattering inversely proportional to fourth power of wavelength.), Blue shaded lights, which have shorter wavelengths than red shaded lights, get scattered away and only reddish shades travel longer distances and reach our eyes. Therefore, sun appears reddish in the morning.
