The presence of Himalayas in the North act as a barrier to the south west monsoon in summer and precipitates heavy rain on the country.The standard meridian of India has enabled uniformity in the time for the entire country. Rivers and its tributaries of various states in India, meeting irrigation and water needs, bringing about cooperation. Many festivals of India which are associated with agriculture and monsoons also fostered unity among Indians.
