Let two no. be x and y . x - y = 2 ----- (1) 1/y - 1/x = 1/24 x - y/xy = 1/24 x - y = xy/24 From 1 ; 2 = xy/24 xy = 48 x= 48/y Put x = 48/y in equation 1 48/y - y =2 y^2 + 2y - 48 = 0 (y+ 8)(y - 6)= 0 y = -8 or 6 Hence , x = 8 and y = 6 .
