1. Baking soda is used as a soda fire extinguisher 2. Baking soda is is also an ingredient in antacids. Being alkaline, it neutralises the excess acid in the stomach and provides relief 3. Baking powder, which is the mixture of baking soda and mild edible acid such as tartaric acid. When baking powder is heated or mixed in water CO2, water and sodium salt of acid is produced. Carbon dioxide produced during this reaction causes bread or cake to rise making them soft and spongy
