Adsorption is a process in which the particle adsorb (means on the surface not inside the surface) . The particle which is adsorb is called adsorbate . The thing on which a particle get adsorb is called adsorbent . Example-if we dipped chalk in ink and break the chalk then you will see that it is white inside ,and blue on the surface means adsorption takes place

Adsorption is the adhesion of atoms, ions or molecules from a gas, liquid or dissolved solid to a surface. This process creates a film of the adsorbate on the surface of the adsorbent.
