In spherical mirrors, a distant object concentrates or appeares to converge its light rays to the focus. But, the rule for image formation states that a ray of light PARALLEL to mirror is reflected to the focus. Therefore, light from distant source is said to be parallel. But, actually, these light rays need not be parallel.
