An acid react with metal oxide to form salt and water : Metal oxide+acid ------>salt +water For example , Copper oxide is a metal oxide .dilute hydrochloric acid react with copper oxide to form copper chloride and water: CuO + 2Hl--------->CuCl2 + H2O
