Ethanoic acid is also known as vinegar which has the molecular formula of CH3COOH it is used as preservatives in food. Concentrated H2SO4 is a dehydrating agent it removes water from the mixture of ethanoic acid and ethanol and in turn provides with a sweet smelling substance which is known as ester which is used in soaps for a fresh and enticing smell and hence this process is called a esterification. Reaction: CH3COOH+CH3CH2OH------} (aero)CH3COOCH2CH3+H2O
