Here we have to use quadratic formula. » D=(b)^2-4ac. » D=(1)^2-4(2)(-4). » D= 1+32. » D= 33. Now using quadratic formula: » x=(- b±√D)/2a. » x=(-1±√33)/4. » x=(-1+33)/4,(-1-33)/4. » x=32/4 & -34/4. » x=8 and -17/2. ??????????
