A group of hydrocarbons belonging to same functional group wherein the succeeding ones differ from the preceding ones by 14 a.m.u. or by a CH2 unit is called homologous series. They have similar methods of preparation and show gradual change in physical properties. Eg:- Alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, etc.
