Frankfurt parliament was an all German national assembly formed by the middle classes professionals , businessmen and prosperous artisans belonging to the different German regions . It was convened on 18 May,1848 in the church of St.Paul, in the city of frankfurt.

In 1848, in the German regions, several political associations whose members are prosperous artisans and middle class professionals met at Frankfurt at decided to vote for an all-German National Assembly. As a result, on 18 May 1848, 831 representatives from all over the German confederations marched in a festive procession towards Church of St. Paul where the Frankfurt Parliament was convened. It framed a constitution for Germany supporting existence of a monarchy subject to a parliament. When deputies offered crown to Friedrich Wilhelm IV, Prussian king, he recfused it and joined other conservatives in opposing the parliament. As a result, its social basis eroded. When it refused to accept demands of peasants and working class, it weakened furthermore. Finally, troupes were called in and the Assembly was forcefully disbanded.
