This statement was said by the Austrian chancellor, Duke Metternich because the liberals in Europe got inspired by the revolutions by the liberals in France to overthrow the monarchy, and form a representative government whose members were elected by the active citizens of the country. New ideas such as 'liberalism', 'end of conservatism and aristocracy', 'abolition of clerical privileges and feudal dues' as well as 'equality of all before the law' rose, which brought in its wake sweeping changes in the political and mental set-up of Europe.
