The French Society was organized in 3 estates during the late 18th century. The first estate was named as Clergy which included the people church who were exempted from paying taxes. The second estate was named as Nobility which comprised of the nobles who were also exempted from paying taxes to the state. The third estate included 90./. of the population. These were from rich businessman, lawers to small farmers and servants.Only these people payed taxes to the state.
