2) a = 2, b = -2, c = 1 D = b^2 - 4ac D = (-2)^2 - 4 x 2 x 1 D = 4 - 8 D = -4 Therefore, there are no real roots.

1) a = 1, b = -8, c = 16 D = b^2 - 4ac D = (-8)^2 - 4 x 1 x 16 D = 64 - 64 D = 0 Therefore, there are real and equal roots.
