Aldehyde having no alpha hydrogen goes for disproportion reaction in presence of conc NaOH ( self oxidise and reduce) to form alcohal and sodium salt of carboxylic acid. Exp. HCHO and C6H5CHO

When 2 molecules of formaldehyde react with conc. NaoH solution which self oxidation as well as reduction to form methyl alcohol & sodium formate.
