Because the volume of multicellular organisms is very high In the process of diffusion the oxygen is transported to every cell which is a very slow process According to some scientists if the Oxygen transported in human body by the process of diffusion then it will take a time of 3 years

As in multicellular organisms,all the cell are not in direct contact with environment,simple diffusion does not meet the requirements of all body cells to get sufficient oxygen
