Indian government put barriers on foreign trade and investment ?to protect local companies from foreign companies ? after the independence the india was a poor country ? inorder to develop indian companies ? in ninteenth centuary government removed tax barriers because at that time they thought that only by comepiting with global market only we can develop ?also govt thought it as right time to remove trade barriers
