The Food Corporation of India is an organization created and run by the Government of India. It is a statutory body under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, formed by the enactment of Food Corporation Act, 1964 by the Parliament of India The four function of fci are:- 1. To protect interest of farmers by procuring food grains at MSP. 2. To protect consumers from too much price fluctuation due to crop failure or any other reason 3. To maintain minimum buffer stock so that any unforseen situation can be met with this stock . 4. To transport food grains from surplus production areas to deficit areas so that accessibility to the food can be ensured through out India.
