Because in case of sodium by losing electron , it acquires nobel gas configuration of neon but in case of copper after losing one electron, Cu achieves only fully filled d orbital. In case of copper nobel gas configuration not acquired. So, in case of sodium we have to provide lesser amount of energy as compared to copper.
