Prussia took the initiative for the unification of Germany while Sardinia Piedmont took the initiative of unification of Italy. Chief minister Otto Von Bismarck was the leader of this process while for Italy unification, Chief minister Cavour was the leader. Bismarck chose the way of blood and war and he fought three wars with Austria, France and Denmark while Cavour engineered the tactful diplomatic alliance with France and took the support of Garibaldi and local peasants. In Germany the process of unification completed in 1871 while in Italy the process of unification completed in 1861. In Germany , King Wilhelm 4 was proclaimed the king of United Germany while King Victor Emmanuel 2 was proclaimed as the king of United Italy.
