    x+y = 14 x-y = 4 Eliminate eq. 1 and 2 2y = 10 y = 5 Putting the value of y in eq. 1 x+y = 14 x+5 = 14 x = 14 - 5 x = 9

    Add x+y = 14 and x-y =4, you will get 2x= 18 then, x = 9 . Now put the value of x in x+y =14 you will get, 9 + y = 14 , then y = 5
