Panchayati Raj is a form of local government in villages where it serves a forum of a grievance where people’s problems are sorted. The reason for the slow progress of the Panchayati Raj System in India are as follows :
1. The lack of communication between the panchayat and the higher offices like district and state offices delays the process of being heard, and the issue takes a long time to get solved.
2. Corruption in the offices makes it difficult for the poor as their pleas get stuck in the hierarchy.
3. The government does not provide much monetary help in maintaining the panchayats which make it difficult for them to function.
