Three reasons for which the rich peasant communities took active participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement are (i) Being producers of commercial crops, they were very hard hit by the trade depression and falling prices. (ii) As their cash income disappeared, they found it impossible to pay the government’s revenue demand. (iii) The government refused to reduce the revenue demand. This led to widespread resentment among the rich peasants, and they enthusiastically supported the movement.
